About Michelle
I am a librarian, archivist and freelance writer currently living in Toronto, Ontario. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, I’ve been in Canada since August, 2007.
I attended New York University, graduating with a BA in Art History. I received a Masters in Library and Information Science with an additional certificate in Archives in Records Management from Long Island University. I have also completed coursework in rare books at the University of Virginia and in paper preservation at the University of Rochester.
I’ve worked in a variety of positions at several esteemed institutions, including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the New York Public Library. Currently I am a writer and editor for TripAdvisor, where I research, fact check, write and edit travel guides and copy for the site. I am also the Online Resource Coordinator for the Learning & Teaching Office at Ryerson University, where I am responsible for researching, annotating and updating the LTO website's collection of print and online resources, as well as producing a monthly newsletter highlighting topics in education. In my free time, I volunteer as an archivist for the Canadian Lesbian & Gay Archives.
In addition to my work experience, I have the experience I’ve gained working on my creative pursuits. I love photography, music, and movies, and enjoy teaching myself to use new technology and experiment with different software. I am an avid runner and have completed three half-marathons. I created this website to show off some of the projects that I’m particularly proud of and to keep track of works in progress.
